Iris Smith is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Career MPH Program in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, George. She holds a PhD from Georgia State University in Community Psychology (2000) and a Master in Public Health degree from Emory University (1979). She has more than 15 years experience managing and conducting clinical and evaluation research, in public administration, and in higher education.
In addition to her service on the Rainbow Research Board, Smith is also a member of the American Public Health Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Evaluation Association. She is Past President of the Atlanta Area Evaluation Association, and is Vice President of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics.
Smith was elected to the Rainbow Board in 2005 for a three-year term. She joined because of her knowledge of the “quality of Rainbow’s work and the competence of its staff.” She hopes to contribute her expertise in public health and grantsmanship to help identify potential projects and sources of funding for the organization. She brings to the Board expertise in program evaluation, public health, and substance abuse.
