Summative evaluation is a type of evaluation that determines the overall effectiveness or “worth” of a program based on its success in achieving outcomes.
It is conducted upon or after completion of a program, in most cases for the benefit of an external audience or decision-maker for accountability purposes or to assist in the allocation of budgetary resources, including the decision to continue or discontinue a program.
