PhotoVoice
(Participatory Photography and Story Development)

Photovoice is a method that combines photography and grassroots social action. Cameras are given to marginalized people who have the least access to the those who make decisions that affect their lives. Subjects are asked to take pictures that represent their points of view regarding the world around them.

Photovoice has three main goals: to enable people to record and reflect their community's strengths and concerns, to promote critical dialogue and knowledge about personal and community issues through large and small group discussions of photographs, and to reach policy makers.
