Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Use in the
Southeast Asian Community in Minnesota
Lao Family Community of Minnesota
2000 – 2002
Rainbow Research conducted interviews of Cambodian, Hmong, Lao, and Vietnamese parents and youth in the Twin Cities regarding their beliefs and perceptions of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) use in their communities to look at the nature, extent and cultural dimensions of intergenerational ATOD use among immigrant parents and their U.S.-raised children. The information was used to develop prevention and intervention programs for youth in these communities.
