Rainbow is conducting focus groups with North Minneapolis residents and stakeholder interviews with community and business leaders in the area. The Greater Twin Cities United Way is interested in increasing the financial stability of North Minneapolis residents through the use of banking services.
The focus groups and interviews seek information on where residents go to access financial services, why they use those services, and what the United Way could do to help them access traditional banking services at banks and credit unions, that typically have lower fees and provide for great asset building than non-traditional services like check cashing storefronts and payday lenders. Rainbow worked with the United Way to develop tools, has recruited focus group participants through community organizations, and is conducting interviews over the phone with stakeholders.
