Program Evaluation of Communities on the Move
Client: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota Center for Prevention
2006–present
Contact: Jennifer Valorose

This multi-site program of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota’s Center for Prevention provides funding for programming, through community based organizations, that encourages less active adults to become and stay more physically active. Grantees have developed projects that promote moderate to intense physical activity, relative to the capacity level of the participants. These projects are conducted in an environment that provides social support to encourage consistent levels of participation. Examples of moderate to intense activities include walking briskly, bicycling, dancing, swimming, running, and other aerobic activities.

As the evaluator for the Communities on the Move program, Rainbow Research is providing the Center for Prevention with quantitative and qualitative information focusing on the extent to which grantee projects meet targeted outcomes and provide the basis for sustainability and replication. The information developed by Rainbow will be used by the Center’s Community Funding project managers to share successes with stakeholders and find opportunities for enhancing the success of its next round of funding.
