Case Studies

Rainbow conducts case studies to gather information that cannot be captured by standardized instruments.

Case studies put a face on statistics, can suggest project outcomes and indicators, or suggest factors contributing to outcomes that would otherwise remain unidentified. If designed to illustrate best practices and lessons learned, case studies become a part of the documentary record on which those trying to replicate or modify a program can draw.

A case can be an individual, a group of individuals, a program, or any unit depending on focus of the evaluation. We use it in concert with other methods to verify findings. A case study might also be used instead of a larger sample if resources are limited.
